The unavoidable government cost for a divorce in the Northern Territory is the federal court filing fee: A$1,170 (or A$390 with a concession card). That's set by the Family Law (Fees) Regulations 2022 and adjusted each July 1 based on CPI indexing. Every other cost depends on your situation.

Common Add-On Costs
Process server (sole applications only): A$100–A$250 in Darwin or Alice Springs. A process server is optional; a third party over 18 must serve the papers, and hand service can still be valid if the respondent refuses to sign an Acknowledgment of Service. You cannot serve the papers yourself.
NAATI translation: A$80–A$150 if your overseas marriage certificate isn't in English. The translation must be by a NAATI-accredited translator and attached as an exhibit to the Translation Affidavit.
Marriage certificate replacement: Variable depending on the issuing registry. Order from NT Births, Deaths and Marriages if you married in the Territory.
Justice of the Peace witnessing: Free where available in the NT. Use the current NT JP directory to find a location and check whether an appointment is required.
